Finally!

We are now 7 months married and yesterday I finally got our wedding album and wedding video.
The husband is yet to see the actual album but so far I'm happy with the final output. I will be returning the parent's album since I want a few pages changed but other than that, it's all good. I have managed to convert a few parts of the wedding video to share to you guys. First video is the wedding teaser and then the second one is the Hotel preps.

Here Comes the Bride/s

Sharing with you some beautiful brides from my make-up artists portfolio.

I can't believe it has been a year since I got engaged and I miss wedding preps. Don't get me wrong, I love married life (even if we are miles apart) but I guess it's but normal for one who had nothing to do but prepare for a wedding for 6 months to miss it. I'm pretty sure I share this feeling to all recent brides out there. To those who are still preparing for it, enjoy it and share it with your fiancee. Make sure you allow him to share in the preparations and not just on the expenses.

Random Updates

-Work was so busy the last 2 weeks. I work from home and has take on a 4 hour a day work but had to adjust and work extra hours. Had to arrange the Schengen visa for my boss's Filipina wife and then arrange for an apartment for them in London. I have realized that everything in London is EXPENSIVE!

-I'm ready to schedule my NCLEX. I never expected for the processing of my credentials to be fast. I was expecting to get my eligibility by the end of this month but got it end of May. I have been doing a lot of readings but I really hope to get my studying groove back soon. So hard to study!

-We have finally submitted the pictures for our album and song selection for the wedding video. Im expecting they call me within the month for the approval of the layout. I have coordinated with Atty Fortun as I want an album made of the pictures he took of our wedding. I need to just select the pictures and send him the DP. The selection of photos for the album is the most diffcult task. I'm hoping to do this over the weekend and send the DP by next week.

-I have great great things to look forward to towards the end of the month. Yeaboi!

-Hopefully I get to update more in the coming days. I miss blogging and wedding planning (teehee).

FabFindsThursdays 01: Commitment

Wifespeaks: Fab Finds Thursday

*photo credit to Atty Raymond Fortun

I'm not a shoes person and I didn't want to spend that much on my wedding shoes which i was pretty sure I might not be able to wear again. Luckily, I came across Abylyn's that could make customized wedding shoes. I just gave them the fabric that was to be used for my gown. Got the shoes after a week and gave it to my gown designer so he could do the beading.

*photo credit to Lito Genilo of Smartshot Studio

By reception, I got rid of my shoes and asked the coordinator to give me flipflop's. Good thing I gave my female entourage flipflops and I have 2 extra pairs, one in my size. My mom was shocked when she saw me wearing flipflops but she could not do anything anymore. teehee.

More FabFinds Thursday's here.

FoodieWednesday 01: Commitment

Wifespeaks: Foodie Wednesday

Hands down my favorite dish served during our reception. When I went for food tasting and had a taste of the dish, I immediately told our caterer I wanted it as part of the Menu.

Dish is Honey Nut Prawn. This was realllly good and until now (4 months after the wedding), I have been receiving good feedbacks from guests of how good this dish is and all the other food we had for our wedding. Credit goes to K by Cunanan catering.

Chika Tuesday #1: Commitment

Wifespeaks: Chika Tuesday
We have only been together for 4 months when hubby proposed. Even before the proposal, I knew I met the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. We have known each other for 3 years but due to circumstances, we only got to be a couple in early 2008. Middle of 2008 he came back to the Philippines for a vacation and over dinner in Cebu, that's when he asked me to marry him. Below is my narration of the story as posted on my multiply account and on our personal blog....(twee is the boyfriend then now the husband)...long read, i hope not to bore you.

Even before twee's visit to manila, he had already asked me if i would go out with him on a dinner date. syempre, oo sagot ko diba. The "dinner date" was set on july 3,2008, a thursday. We were in cebu at that time and he told me we will just hang out sa Shangri-la Mactan. that was fine with me as I wanted to see Shangri-La Mactan. We originally planned on leaving our hotel at 6pm but the taxi driver who was suppose to drive us to Mactan was stuck in traffic. He looked super asar ako naman wala lang as always, teehee. We were waiting for the cab at the lobby of marriot hotel when I told him "yung mga shorts mo lagi madami bulsa" sabay hawak sa mga bulsa nya (as what my cousin said, merong frisking na naganap!). at that time natakot pala sya kasi yung box ng engagement ring nasa bulsa nya. ako naman isip ko camera lang. We got to leave marriot mga 6:30pm na and he was really disappointed na pala because we missed the sunset already. When we got to mactan madilim na!

When we got to the restaurant, wala nag welcome sa amin. i just sat by the couch and twee looked for who could help us get a table kuno. He came back tapos after a few minutes a girl approached us telling us that we will be led to our table in a while but was asking on how we wanted our steaks. Feeling ko naman...wala pa nga ako na order tinatanong na ako how i wanted my steak. Anyway, isip ko na lang na set menu doon. another girl then approached us and brought us to our table. that table pala ang tinatawag nila na "Table 54". First reaction ko "ang layo ng table namin from the main restaurant, what if i had to use the toilet", teehee. After being seated we took pictures tapos i casually asked ld if he made reservations. he said he did that afternoon. lusot sya dun diba?

having dinner at Table 54

And then in a few minutes we were served our wine and food na by dennis our private dancer este butler pala. Every time he'ld serve us food, we would always ask him to take our picture. he was super cool naman and nice. I told twee at one time after he served us our food na pag dating ng bill pwede na namin wag bayaran and just reason we never really ordered for the food and dennis just kept on bringing us food. teehee. puro kalokohan talaga.

Eto na, dessert na. super sarap ng dessert namin, teehee. pero parang di na makakain si twee (maybe because he was going to be paying for it!). i even finished his ice cream. tapos i saw him drink ng straight the wine in his glass tapos he went over to my side and gave me a card. kung ano nakasulat sa card....sa amin na lang yun. teehee! anyways, it was just his list of 10 promises...it was written on the left side of the card and on the right side of the card may nakasulat na (sorry twee)....macy dear...i really want to spend the rest of my life with YOU, so.....sabay lumuhod at nag dialogue ng will you make me the happiest man in the world and be my wife...all together now--AWWWWW.....

I guess alam nyo na what my answer was. YES syempre. after mga 10 mins of being in a tulala state he told me to call or text my parents kasi they are probably waiting. doon ko lang nalaman na everyone knew about it except me. it was only recently that i discovered that he has planned for everything as early as april and that before we went out of town, he already had breakfast with my parents (secret from me) and asked for their permission to marry me. As we were in Cebu, my relatives in manila were already waiting!

picture taken in January, we stayed at shangri-la as part of our honeymoon. table 54 is at our back

We married early this year and it sucks that we are miles apart right now but we are both looking forward to the day we could be together everyday. Sometimes I wake up in the morning and still can't believe i am married. What's so nice about it is i know that i married my prince charming. It took years for us to be together but I know that God has prepared us in those years that we were apart. As what one of my good friends said "twee is someone who is to take care of you". I believe her when she said that because I know and I feel that I am well taken cared off. I know that I'm not just to spend the rest of my life with my prince charming but I get to spend the rest of my life with my bestfriend, my confidant, my friend, my laughing pal and my partner.

WS Memoir Monday #1: Commitment

Wifespeaks: Memoir Monday

The theme for this week is commitment and the task is to post a photo that would remind us of our commitment. Here is my entry for this week.

*taken the day after we got engaged

*taken by Atty Raymond Fortun

And im posting below the lyrics of the song we used for our first dance which sums up what commitment is for us.

Time Stood Still
Betty Yoon & Derek Mateo

I came here alone without a clue
Yet still I always knew
This winding path would lead me straight to you
Now I know fairy tales are hidden deep within
A princess I have been
Waiting for my prince to come again

There were times when I couldn’t believe
That we were meant to be
I never thought I’d love so openly
You have been my happiness, my joy, my light and the stars
Our journey’s come so far
Now I finally know just who you are

In my dreams your love never dies
In my heart your love never lies
Then I looked into your eyes and time stood still
I love you and I always will

When did we become more than best friends
(You’re my best friend)
I hope it never ends
A love like ours will never come again

Here with you, in my arms I won’t ever let go
How do you always know
What I need to laugh and make me grow

I looked but couldn’t fine
Love was right before my eyes

I came here alone without a clue
Yet still I always knew
Here and now I pledge myself to you

Cooking 101

My family and friends, know that I don't cook. I love food and eating but I have never really tried cooking a dish. After I got married and the fact that we will be living in another country without a cook or a maid or another person to cook for us, I just knew I had to try cooking.

My first try was when I found a recipe for korean beef stew. I enjoy korean food and this was something I really wanted to try. I did and I was successful in doing so. I have cooked the dish twice already and on both occasions, it was a hit.
Second attempt was to make chinese lemon chicken. A cousin of mine posted a link online of where I could find the recipe for this dish. It looked delicious and it was an easy dish so I tried it. Everyone enjoyed it too.
I knew I had to take it to the next level. Having tried Korean and Chinese food, I wanted to try a Japanese dish. I was craving for Sukiyaki so I searched for a recipe online, bought the ingredients I needed and followed all the instructions provided. Result, a yummy-yummy dish.
In the days following that, I have also tried General Tso's Chicken ( i love the general's chicken at recipe's) and Sweet and Sour fish (my husband loves sweet and sour dishes). I made us dessert also to go with the sweet and sour fish.

Next on my list is to cook another beef dish that comes with vegetables and buffalo wings chicken. Too bad Husband is in another country and had to just see in pictures what i cooked. I promise to share the recipe's soon.

My Bridal Shower

Where: Holiday Inn, Galleria
When: January 3,2009

Dino had no choice when he was told that they would have to use his hotel room for my bridal shower. We came from a whole day of pre-cana seminar at Santuario de San Jose and a bit of shopping at greenhills. I knew of the plan to have a bridal shower but i was told that we would just have a videoke party and was told i was to be picked up from holiday inn.

Since I had to wait for my ride to Metorwalk, Dino and I went to his room and upon entering his room...my sisters, SIL and cousins were all inside the room waiting for me for their surprise bridal shower party.

while waiting for methe foodwe played charades

they had a surprise guest for me

Obviously, we all had fun. i got some nice and weird gifts too. It was a wonderful night that had my mind out of the preparations and it was a stress reliever.

Dino and Macy Song

My brother-in-law, Matt composed a song a day or two before the wedding over breakfast that he sang during the reception. He composed the song with the help of Michael, one the bestman. Original plan was he sings the english part and Michael sings the tagalog part but since Michael was busy with his own surprise for us during the reception, Matt ended up singing both the english and tagalog parts of the song. This turned out to be better since he was so funny as he was singing the tagalog part.

Ate Carm & Matt with his brandnew ukelele he bought for his surprise

His song number was super funny and everyone was so amused on how well he did with the tagalog parts.

Let me share the lyrics of the Dino and Macy Song.

Chorus:

Dino and Macy are from different worlds they say
But love has made into one the world here today
Kahit Magkai-ibang mundo pinang galingan nila,
Ngayon ang pag-ibig ay pinag-isa sila

1)
Dino is Visaya from the island of Cebu
Macy speaks Tagalog, just like most of you
When they went out on a picnic----
And some ants just walked on by
Macy shouted “Langam” and Dino looked into the sky
You see “Langam” is bird to LD
And in Tagalog it means “ants”
And this should cause no problem for their blossoming romance.
But if perfect understanding should ever be their wish
They could skip their dialects and just talk in English!

2)
LD, Ildefonso, and Dino are his names
MC, Macy and Maria Carmela all mean just the same
If they say “honey”, “baby”, “schnookums” or other nicknames too
It will take their entire marriage to use the names they have to choose.

3)
LD drives a Honda and he drives it really fast
Macy’s stuck in traffic there at Edsa and Ortigas.
Ildefonso drives so fast you think he might be crashin’
But Macy’s gone so slow, so long
LD’s speed is her attraction

4)
LD’s in the U.S while MC’s in PI
And while waiting for their wedding many lonely months went by.
But don’t think such distance interrupted their sweet bliss
‘Cuz Facebook just invented the world wide webcam kiss!

Red Mango

I'm addicted to frozen yogurt and so far Red Mango has the best frozen yogurt. The small size sells for Php80, Medium at Php115 and the large one for Php150. That is for the original flavor and you'ld have to add another Php5 for the green tea flavor. One topping costs Php20, two for Php30 and three for Php40. The only thing with Red Mango is they have a limited topping selection compared to White Hat, Iloveberries and Yoh-gurt Froz.

Red Mango is at the 3rd level of Trinoma, infront of Toys-r-us and Fitness First.

Korean Beef Stew

I first saw the receipe from jane's site. She got it from pinoycook. I have been craving for korean food and since she said it was easy to do, I tried it today.

She was correct at saying that it was easy and a must try. It was delicious! I never thought I could cook something that tasted sooo good. This was my first try in cooking and it was a success.

Here’s the recipe from the site.

Ingredients :

1 kilo of stewing beef with bones (short ribs, neck or shank), cut into serving pieces
1 whole garlic
1 whole onion
a large piece of ginger (about the size of two thumbs side by side)
3-4 chili peppers
1 bay leaf
3/4 c. of dark soy sauce
3/4 c. of white sugar
salt
12-15 stalks of sibuyas na mura (onion leaves)
1-2 tbsps. of sesame seeds

Cooking procedure :

Place the beef in a casserole. Cover with water. Place over high heat and, before the water starts to boil, remove the scum that floats on the surface. Add the whole garlic, onion, ginger, chili peppers and bay leaf. Pour in the soy sauce and stir in the sugar. Simmer gently for two hours or until the meat is very tender. If you’re using short ribs, the meat will be falling off the bones.

Halfway through the cooking, taste the broth and add salt. Do not be tempted to add more soy sauce instead of salt; otherwise, the broth will turn too dark.

While the beef simmers, toast the sesame seeds. Place them in a small frying pan and set over medium-low heat. Shake the pan often for even toasting.

Slice the onion leaves finely.

To assemble, place two to three pieces of beef in individual soup bowls. Ladle plenty of broth over them. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and sliced onion leaves. Serve at once.

MY RP Encounter

Im a big fan of Richard Poon. Even before going solo, i have been a big fan of U-Turn already. I Was even able to watch a show they had with Side-A at bagaberde in Pasig.
It was day before the wedding and I went to Fix Salon galleria for threading. I was waiting for my turn when I saw Richard Poon walking to the counter from inside the salon. I just had to stand up and say hi to him. He said hi back and then i sat with my cousin again and told her i had a camera inside my bag and that she has to take my picture with richard poon. I approached him again on his way out of the salon and here's how our conversation went...

Macy : Can I have my picture taken with you?
RP: Sure
Macy : And I'm getting married tomorrow....Can you sing at my wedding? (kapal ko diba!)
RP: Wow, you're getting married tomorrow? Congratulations. Where is your wedding?
Macy: Blue Leaf my reception. Punta ka ha!
RP: Sosyal!
Macy: No. Im not sosyal.
*picture taking na kami
Macy: Thank you ha.
RP: Sure...tingin ako ng picture natin.
Macy: here (showed him my camera). Punta ka ha. Thanks again.
